College Course Credits

Our course catalog includes several concurrent enrollment courses.

These are real college courses taught in our high school by our teachers.

• Colleges and universities approve our high school teachers to teach the classes.
• The courses:
  • Meet college standards.
  • Align with college expectations.

If you pass a concurrent enrollment course:

• You earn transcripted college credit.
• Establish an official college record.

Students who take these classes:

• Earn college credit while in high school.
• Experience college-level coursework in a familiar environment.
• Build confidence and academic skills before attending college.
• Get a head start on a college degree.
• Reduce future college costs by earning some credits now.

When you take concurrent enrollment courses, you:

•  Learn the pace, expectations and rigor of college coursework.
• Still receive support from teachers and staff in our school.

The experience can help you feel more prepared for and be more successful in college.

When you take a concurrent enrollment class:

• You take a college course while in high school.
• You earn your grade through exams, projects, papers, labs and other coursework.
• If you pass the course, you earn a transcripted college credit.
• Many colleges and universities accept the credit for transfer.

This is different from the Advanced Placement (AP) college credit award process, where you:

• Take a college-level high school course.
• Earn your college credit by performing well on a single AP exam at the end of the course.

Each college determines whether AP exam scores qualify for credit, placement or both.
