PSAT NMSQT®
Our district offers this National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP) qualifying test to students in grade 11. It is an optional test.

Overview
The PSAT/NMSQT® is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Each year, about 1.6 million juniors take the exam.
- National Merit Semifinalists are students who score in the top 1 percent.
- National Merit Commended Scholars are students who score in the top 3 to 4 percent.
District PSAT NMSQT® testing
Our district offers the PSAT/NMSQT® to all students in grade 11 in the fall.

Before you register:
Use the online Total Registration Form to register.
Test prep
- Install the testing app on your iPad before test day.
- Use these resources to study for the test.
- College Board PSAT/NMSQT practice tests.
- Khan Academy practice resources.
- Other PSAT/NMSQT preparation materials.
Students in grades 9 and 10 cannot take the test. They can take practice exams at home so they are better prepared by grade 11.
Accommodations
- The accommodations approved for you by the College Board are built into the digital test.
- They cannot be changed or declined on test day.
- If you no longer want to use an approved accommodation, contact your counselor or case manager as soon as possible.
- If you do not have College Board-approved accommodations and want them, request them by the end of August.
